Hodyon was established in 1986 as a supplier of automotive air conditioner compressors to the wholesale market.
Hodyon originally supplied compressors by using a specific rebuilding process for a single type of General Motors compressor that was in high demand. The company formed a niche for itself by improving the rebuilding process: it replaced the plastic parts in compressors with steel parts, making the rebuilt compressors more durable than the original GM parts. Through this improved rebuilding process, Hodyon was able to produce a higher quality compressor.
With a well-defined niche and a quality product to offer, Hodyon was on its way to becoming an established name in the rebuilding industry. As its reputation grew, customers began to request other types of rebuilt compressors from Hodyon. In response, Hodyon expanded its product offering to all types of air conditioning compressors to meet the needs of its ever-expanding customer base.
Over the last decade, Hodyon has substantially increased its product offerings, stocking over 40,000 SKU's, and is now a full-line distributor of replacement automotive climate control products.
During 2005, the company's management made a strategic decision to establish a new division at Hodyon, one to build aftermarket compressors
- Hodyon Aftermarket. This division managed the development of a 10H compressor - from re-design and engineering to sourcing and eventual production. Today, Hodyon Aftermarket has seven product lines that fit
55 applications. All applications are manufactured in the US at the company's headquarters in Austin, Texas.
The company made another positive change in 2006 by moving its corporate offices to Austin. It is now housed in a state-of-the-art 65,000 square foot facility in the Crystal Park Business Park. During this time of transition, the company re-organized production operations, implemented a quality control department, hired additional engineering staff and continued to add to its sales force.
In 2007, Hodyon established its newest division, Hodyon Custom Manufacturing, to serve businesses with application-specific product needs that are not being met by existing suppliers. With several new projects beginning production in the first quarter of 2007, Hodyon CM is setting the standard for providing
"Intelligent Solutions" for the marketplace.
Today, Hodyon is a dynamic company with three divisions - Hodyon Remanufacturing, Hodyon Aftermarket, and Hodyon Custom Manufacturing. Its 50-plus-person team of employees encompasses a broad spectrum of skills and areas of expertise. Despite the changes over its 20-year history, one constant remains
